As soon as we got there they ran a second EKG which showed the same as the first. The assistant did an exam on Ty and asked us some questions. She then sent him across the hall to do a very thorough echo. It took 45 minutes and the technician kept typing "check pause on EKG" so there I am freaking that his heart is pausing.
Long story short the echo showed a beautiful heart working properly!!! The cardiologist suspects 2 reasons for his abnormal EKG. First is that he's thin which makes the EKG more sensitive. Second is his ADHD meds. She explained that the A.M. symptoms make sense due to the electrical impulses of the heart. She doesn't feel it is dangerous and felt that we could give it more time to see if his body adjusts. I spoke with his doctor and he agrees. So far Tyler has not had any further episodes.
So on Saturday evening I noticed Tyler getting a little congested. His friends a 3yo and his 5yo sister just got over a bug. I thought for sure he was gonna get it. And he did. Sunday he woke up with a low fever and snotty. By noon he was sporting a 103 fever, headache, chills, body aches, ear pain, coughing, sneezing, congestion and nausea.....the whole 9 yards. The poor kid was on the couch till bed time. He woke up this morning sicker and of course stayed home from school. Today he had rather significant head and ear pain despite both Tylenol and Motrin. Also the fever reducers were only working for 2-3 hours at a time. I then called his doctor and got permission to double his triaminic dose. He got that at about 6pm and seems to have turned the corner.
His head is feeling better (not entirely but a lot) and his fever is hardly even registering without fever reducers. He's talking and much more perky.
If he continues on this path and does not get any secondary infections, this will be the first time he has gotten the flu (or any bug) and fought it without the aid of prednisone or antibiotics......and fought it in a normal life span. It will be the first time that he will have fought a bug like a NORMAL healthy child is suppose to!!!!!!
Tomorrow I meet with the broker for the autism waiver program. Her job is to write up a "plan". After she submits it, it gets approved and then we can finally start services. As for the ABA.....we are STILL waiting on therapists. This has been going on since SEPTEMBER. I'm ready to seek a different clinic.
