The morning started out with his usual protest of going to school. I explained to him that children stay home from school when they are sick. They stay in bed and rest. Tyler states he is not sick. I said, well, you can still chose to stay home, but you have to stay in bed and rest. "No toys?". Nope. "I want to go to school". Teehee.
No breakdown in the morning.
Today Tyler started on his new doses of meds. He is now on slow release ritalin 10mg and 1/2 tab guanfacine 3x/day. The school nurse called me and told me that his day was "FANTASTIC". Except one thing. He was blinking....a LOT. I have a call into the doctor. One of two things is likely to happen. 1) They will add a medication to stop the tic or 2) They will try a different medication. If they try a different medication I hope it works just as well because the positives seem to be turning out to be great!
When he got home, he happily walked down our street from the bus. Usually he's pouting! He went inside and showed me his hand writing without tears project, the letter E. It was so cute! I praised him to high heavens, as I want to positively reinforce his table top work since he HATES it.
He got to spend some quality time with daddy playing with play doh. He LOVES this time with his daddy. He ate dinner. I got him to eat FOUR green beans! I have decided that we can no longer follow Tylers lead. I give him a little of the foods he likes and a small amount of the foods he doesn't like. I tell him he can have more of the food he likes after he eats x amount of the food he doesn't like. So today that meant he got to eat two chicken nuggets right away. He got one more for eating two green beans. And then two more for eating two more green beans and two bites of rice. Hey, that's progress!
We changed his bed time to 7pm (instead of 7:30). I will admit, this is mostly for my sanity. But also, since the time change, he is awake before me which is what he needs to transition into the day. He needs a good 30+ minutes to wake up and chill in his bed. If I have to wake him up, I have a VERY crabby whiney tantruming child. So this has been going well too :).
Bed time tonight was rather smooth. He asked if he had school tomorrow. I said yes. He pouted but I quickly changed the subject.
Lets hope for another fantastic day tomorrow!
