Yesterday was Tylers last day of summer school so his summer as officially started. This morning he woke up happy but totally into doors. He found a key and asked me to read it and has claimed it as his own. Thankfully the door to his room is easily opened with a coin. At this moment he is using the key to "fix" my door. He likes the actual mechanisms that push into the door frame that keeps the door closed. Always has. That's what he is "fixing"" with the key. Hey, that's some imagination use there!
I present to you exhibits A and B:

Thats my crappy door right there. He has sense moved on to his door:

And thanks to the flash, I now know that his door needs a good cleaning!!!!
Tyler has had 4 sessions of ST. But last week the ST, who is WONDERFUL, announced she had turned in her 2 week notice. Yesterday was his last session with her. This means that he has to go back on the waiting list! You think that's frustrating?? The OT called me yesterday to let me know that once school starts and his time has to change from 2 to 3:30 or later, he will have to go back on the waiting list for that as well. How frustrating!!!! Both are recommending he be in social skills group therapy where both OT and ST attend. They feel he needs that the most. I agree :) So he's on the waiting list for that as well.
I have about 4.5 weeks with Tyler that I have to survive. One one of those weeks we are going camping so that will help. And I do have a free 1 week summer camp at our local Y. I think we can survive.
On Monday we have an appointment to meet with a pediatric ADHD specialist who is going to help us start medication as well. I hope that will be the key of our survival. It is really that bad, that we have to be thinking about meds, now, and that I have to use the word "survival". I worry about false hope though, as I a laying a lot of faith down on this.
We have a busy day today. It includes going to the ST office to get her final report on Ty, of which his psychologist is requesting. We will then head to the mall to see if we can find a few tee shirts for Tyler since he has officially grown out of 5T and most his summer shirts are to tight and short. Then we will head to the grocery store to pick up food and what I need to make his birthday cake because tomorrow my boy turns 5 and we are having a party!
